Caring For My Backyard gives students a platform to start exploring how they can get involved in changing the local environment and create a culture of caring. Those experiences aren’t just limited to the contest!

2017 Semi-finalist Cameron Blackwell was selected for a scholarship to attend a business summit in Anchorage, Alaska. Cameron says the week-long event further opened her eyes to the professional world and how to navigate the challenges of building your own company.

Cameron writes…

“This summer I️ had the privilege to go to Alaska Business Week at APU. This experience allowed teens to create their own businesses with groups and adult mentors from around the state. It was very cool to see what actually goes into creating a small business! The reason I️ got to go to Alaska Business Week was because I️ was a semifinalist in the Caring for the Kenai program. Soldotna Chamber then sponsored me to go to this opportunity. I️ had a blast and highly recommend this to anyone!!”
